Manual flat knitting and fault analysis II 

Target group:
This course is for those interested in gaining a deeper insight into knitting technology.

Aims:

The course participants acquire an expert knowledge of loop forming, and of the setup and functioning of manual flatknitting machines. Participants also gain the ability to create common types of fabric structures themselves on the manual flat-knitting machine.

Content:

Basic knowledge of knitting technology and fault analysis

  • History of knitting and knitting machines
  • Introduction to loop and needle technology
  • Important terms, using yarn feed technology as an example
  • Loop formation process as demonstrated by the latch needle
  • Setup and functioning of a manual flat-knitting machine, technical features
  • Fault analysis


Theory of fabric structures

  • Description and definition of various types of fabric structures
  • Basic fabric structures
  • Creation and pattern analysis of basic fabric structures


Practical exercises on the manual flat knitting machine

  • Implementation of various pattern analysis
