Effective sustainability begins with day-to-day behavior. The company encourages environmentally-aware behavior from every single employee and targets it with various programs and activities.
For years now, Groz-Beckert has been continuously lowering its emissions and energy consumption. At all of the company's building projects, long-lasting and ecologically compatible building materials are used, as well as are regional materials, wherever possible.
Environmentally-friendly products
Even during development, Groz-Beckert places high value on the potential of its products to conserve resources and reduce emissions.
A prominent example is the Litespeed needle for circular knitting machines. As compared to standard needles, its optimized shaft geometry drastically reduces the energy consumed and thereby CO2, while at the same time boosting productivity. In 2010 Groz-Beckert was awarded the Kyocera environmental prize and in 2011 the Korea EU Award for the first generation of Litespeed technology.
The product EcoStar in the area of Nonwovens has also proven sustainable. The universal felting needle for extreme requirements needs very little energy.
Packaging solutions from Groz-Beckert are biocompatible, recyclable and environmentally neutral.

Groz-Beckert is partner of the Blue Competence initiative of the VDMA (German Engineering Federation), which promotes sustainability in mechanical and plant engineering and makes sustainable solutions visible.

Textile innovations for the sake of the environment
Groz-Beckert is occupied with topics of the future brought on by the environment and customers. Resource efficiency and waste prevention can relieve process costs in the textile industry.
Technical textiles and their many fields of application are very promising. Textiles are now used as fiber-reinforced plastics, called composites, and as textile cores in concrete. They replace conventional materials such as steel. Their effectiveness includes significant weight reduction – and thereby also energy and CO2 reduction.
An example of successful material substitution stands in Albstadt-Lautlingen near the Groz-Beckert headquarters - the longest textile-reinforced concrete bridge in the world.
