New-generation cutting system

Impressive tufting results for velour carpeting

Requirements placed on carpet manufacturers regarding tufting tool functionality, reliability, and service life are constantly increasing. Growing cost pressure and more stringent quality requirements from end-users are ensuring that gauge part cutting systems are increasingly becoming a key success factor in the tufting process. This is why Groz-Beckert is constantly active in development, and at the ITMA 2015 will again be presenting improved tools that bring clear competitive advantages. A transparent tufting system made of acrylic glass demonstrates the principle of tufting and the sophisticated interaction of the Groz-Beckert tufting tools.

Higher customer expectations mean increasing requirements placed on producers. To meet these challenges, Groz-Beckert offers its industry partners the perfect solution: the new Groz-Beckert gauge part system. It has all the features needed to guarantee users impressive results during the production process. All the critical process parameters during tufting, such as...

  • Different fiber types and fiber gauges,
  • Different backing materials (fabric and / or nonwoven)
  • The full range of stitch formation types, pile heights and gauges
  • Best possible look (thick and uniform fabric appearance)
  • Other process parameters such as efficiency, high power yield and production speeds

... can all be mastered optimally by the Groz-Beckert gauge part system.

The gauge part system consists of tufting needle, looper, reed finger and tufting knife, available as individual components or as a module. Tufting needles and reed finger modules from Groz-Beckert have provided customers with high and proven quality for decades now, and the company has now significantly revised its tufting knives and loopers.

In addition to the high-quality and proven tufting knives made from standard material, the TK SC (tufting knife with carbide cutting insert; SC = System Cut) has now been developed. It is used primarily for automotive carpeting, as well as for demanding contract carpeting applications (off-the-roll or tiles). Applications are also conceivable in the production of artificial turf, where surface and appearance are both very important.

Especially when used in combination with the CPL SC looper generation, the tufting knife TK SC provides the following advantages:

  • In many cases, longer service life compared to the standard-material tufting knife
  • Precise knife sharpening in OEM quality
  • Product labeling via laser marking
  • Harmonious coordination of all material components with SC knives and SC loopers

Individual loopers as well as looper modules are being constantly improved by selection of materials and optimized geometry. This results in the following benefits:

  • Longer knife rest
  • Multiple regrindability
  • Longer operating times / service life
  • Robust construction for high stability
  • Even better looking cuts

In the production of carpets, the base fabric and the yarn used represent the biggest cost factors. The Groz-Beckert gauge part system, with its precisely coordinated individual tools, i.e.

  • Tufting needle / tufting needle module
  • Cut pile looper / looper module
  • Reed finger module
  • Tufting knife

can have a positive effect on economic efficiency in production through the perfect interplay of its components as well as its functionality and compatibility. Here, all application-related requirements are met – the key ones being the controlled and coordinated selection of materials and tolerances, and the dimensional compliance of all individual tools used.

With the steady and consistent development of its products, Groz-Beckert is a reliable partner to the textile industry. The ever-growing demands of the industry and of customers are either met or exceeded here. The tufting experts look forward to seeing you at the Groz-Beckert booth!
