Technology and Development Center
Working with mechanical engineers, operators, textile manufacturers and institutes, Groz-Beckert shapes the textile future at its Technology and Development Center (TEZ).
The goals – innovation and improvement along the textile chain
One of the TDC's starting points involves the development of market-ready innovative products with textile covering. In addition to precision parts and systems for textile production, this also involves developing new types of textile surfaces and fabrics. For this Groz-Beckert closely cooperates with customers and partners.
Another TDC starting point lies in new potentials and efficiency boosting within the textile value chain. Precisely the interfaces between tool and machine and tool and textile harbor enormous potentials which Groz-Beckert would like to utilize in association with its partners.
The Technology and Development Center (TEZ)
Option 1 – knowledge transfer and training
Are you looking for comprehensive and practical knowledge about textile processes, tools and products?
Sometimes the solution to a problem lies in the sharing of knowledge. Within the Groz-Beckert Academy the company provides practical training for different textile surface production and joining methods under the roof of the TEZ. This includes not only basic courses but also advanced and special training. As a complement to the Groz-Beckert Academy, the company offers customized trainings as part of a co-development.
Option 2 – services and trials
Are you looking for the right needle, the right tool and right parameters or are you lacking the resources to carry out trials and tests?
In that case select the option services & trials. The TEZ works out customized approaches to resolve specific tasks for its customers. The service is freely scalable. For individual requirements, Groz-Beckert realizes initial samples, provides advice and recommendations on processes and products and sets up feasibility tests. With the Central Laboratory, Groz-Beckert furthermore offers damage analysis and chemical analysis, textile testing and also materials consulting and materials development.
Option 3 – co-development
Are you looking for a development partner to advise and support you with new ideas?
Take your specific product ideas and market requirements to the TEZ. Groz-Beckert will work out an efficient solution with you. Energy saving in production? New products for composite materials? The possibilities and opportunities are as diverse as the textile industry itself. Various models are possible for organizing, financing and other aspects of project implementation.
Option 4 – co-innovation
Groz-Beckert is looking for you!
As part of the co-innovation Groz-Beckert proactively develops approaches to key challenges of the textile industry. Together with partners these approaches are translated into market-ready products. The focus here lies on new application fields for textiles. Material substitution promises opportunities, for example as composites and as textile reinforcement for concrete. The innovative products thus devised are generally manufactured and distributed by the project partners.
Expertise – tool, process and machine
Our experts are at the ready with comprehensive know-how and practical experience.
The Competence Centers in the TEZ consolidate the knowledge of leading experts with machines and systems and represent different textile production and joining methods.
Competence Center Knitting Technology
Circular knitting, flat knitting, warp knitting – in the Competence Center Knitting Technology you can find machines and tools for all issues about loop formation.
Competence Center Weaving Technology
Drawing-in, knotting, weaving – from weaving preparation to the production of woven fabrics, the Competence Center Weaving Technology provides various machines and equipment.
Competence Center Joining Technology
Sewing, welding, gluing – at the Competence Center Joining Technology everything revolves around the joining of textile surfaces. Various sewing processes and alternative joining methods are covered.
Competence Center Felting Technology
From fiber to nonwovens – carding and needling are the focus at the Competence Center Felting Technology. The entire manufacturing process can be mapped, analyzed and optimized on a staple fiber needle punch line.
Competencies of the Groz-Beckert Group
The Technology and Development Center (TEZ) also serves as a platform for cross-functional activities and joint development projects. At the TEZ, all competences come together so that synergies can be used and potentials developed together with customers and partners.
The Central Laboratory is comprehensively equipped with high technology. With the aid of different (textile-) physical and chemical tests, tools and materials can be analyzed in detail in order to effectively support trials and services.
Needle and tool production
Groz-Beckert has been gaining expertise in needle manufacturing for over 160 years and boasts a portfolio of about 70,000 types of products. Most of the product types are immediately available for trials and projects. This simplifies testing. As part of a co-development, there is also the opportunity to custom-tailor tools to customers.
Machine building expertise
Groz-Beckert has a flexible, efficient in-house machine production, where machines for the company’s own use are manufactured or modified. To customers, the company offers machines for the weaving preparation sector. This expertise is used to optimize the interface between tool and machine.
Networking – a community of for textiles
At the Technology and Development Center Groz-Beckert is already working on the products and applications of tomorrow. Wherever innovation is ubiquitous, there must also be research institutes and universities. In addition to partnerships with the industry, Groz-Beckert therefore also incorporates a wide variety of scientific collaborations. In the TEZ, findings gained from research are further developed together with partners. Experts from all fields and disciplines along the textile value chain come together at the TEZ. New opportunities for collaboration emerge from the common tieings of different target groups. The TEZ auditorium is a venue for various events and symposiums.
