Groz-Beckert Takes on Five Apprentices from Mayer & Cie.

Albstadt: Following the bankruptcy of Mayer & Cie. GmbH in Albstadt, Groz-Beckert has taken on five apprentices from the long-established textile machinery manufacturer. In addition to Groz-Beckert, eight other companies in the region are taking on apprentices from Mayer & Cie. This has made it possible for all former apprentices of Mayer & Cie. to continue their training.

Since January 1, 2026, a prospective industrial business administrator has been continuing her first-year apprenticeship at Groz-Beckert. As of February 1, 2026, an industrial mechanic in his second year of apprenticeship, as well as three industrial mechanics in their third year, will also be integrated into the ongoing apprenticeship program at Groz-Beckert.

The transfer of the apprentices took place in close coordination with the previous training company, Mayer & Cie., and all participating companies. The shared goal was to create viable follow-up solutions for the affected apprentices at short notice and to prevent them from dropping out of their training—which was achieved in all cases.

With this step, the participating companies are jointly demonstrating their commitment to young people and the region and making an important contribution to stabilizing the regional apprenticeship market. For Groz-Beckert, securing a qualified next generation of talent is and remains a central component of its long-term location strategy.

In addition to Groz-Beckert, the following companies are taking on apprentices from Mayer & Cie.: Assa Abloy Sicherheitstechnik GmbH, Gühring KG, Johs. Boss GmbH & Co. KG, Karl Küfner GmbH & Co. KG, Mey GmbH & Co. KG, Peter Müller GmbH, Trigema W. Grupp KG, and Wagner Glas- und Metallbau GmbH.
