Carding technology – mechanical web formation
This training outlines basic knowledge on the mechanical web formation process – from bale to web. Special attention will be paid to the roller card carding process, with answers to such questions as "What happens to the fibers in the carding process?", "Which tools are used?" and "Which parameters influence the quality of the nonwoven product?".

Explanation of basic functions and processes of fibre preparation as a preparatory step for carded web formation.

Solid knowledge of the entire carding process – from fibre preparation to the finished web.
• Detailed Insight into the Carding Process: Mechanical processes and their influence on web quality.
• Tools for Nonwoven Web Formation:
Tools and machine elements used for web formation and their functions.
• Technical Features and Terms:
Key terms, definitions, and technical features of carding technology using carding machines.
• Fundamentals of Nonwoven Consolidation:
Basic understanding of nonwoven bonding processes using thermal, chemical, or mechanical methods. (More in-depth content on mechanical nonwoven bonding using needling is covered in Course 130, which can be combined with Course 140.)
• Technologies and Areas of Application:
Overview of other nonwoven processes and technologies as well as their typical areas of application.
Target Group
Based on our experience, this course is suitable for beginners or for specialists from other textile areas who are looking to refresh and expand their existing knowledge.
Prerequisites
No previous knowledge is required for this basics course. We do, however, recommend combining it with the “Textile chain” or “Fiber theory” courses, as well as “Felting Technology - mechanical web bonding".
Methodology
The training consists of an interactive presentation with a wide range of examples from practice and illustrated material. Detailed explanations on the roller card complete the training.
